Designed with plant-based materials in every layer - no conventional plastics or synthetic gels in topsheet, absorbent core or back layer - making them suitable for sensitive skin.
Other "organic" pads:
Many “organic” pads use cotton/plant-based material only in the top sheet. The rest of the layers are still made of plastic and synthetic superabsorbent gels.
Conventional pads:
Most conventional pads contain plastic in all the layers.

Conventional pads
Conventional pads (and many organic pads) contain hidden synthetic gels or hidden synthetic superabsorbents (SAPs), which are made from petrochemicals. This non-biodegradable gel could pollute the planet for over 500 years after disposal.
Sparkle pads
Sparkle pads use sustainable plant cellulose in the absorbent core - our pads don’t contain any synthetic gels.

Biodegradation in composting:
Sparkle pads reached a disintegration percentage of 100% in less than 8 weeks, when tested according to ISO 16929 (Standard Test Method for Determination of the Degree of Disintegration of Plastic Material under Defined Composting Conditions in a Pilot-scale Test).
Biodegradation in landfill:
Sparkle pads reached relative biodegradation of around 75% when compared to the positive reference (cellulose), and absolute biodegradation of around 60% after 15 days of incubation (which represents around one year in a landfill), according to ASTM D5511 (Standard Test Method for Determining Anaerobic Biodegradation of Plastic Materials Under High-Solids Anaerobic-Digestion Conditions).
Conventional pads that contain large amounts of plastic remain unchanged in a landfill for around 500 years.
Note: Biodegradation and disintegration of any product depends on a number of factors such as the disposal location and other specific conditions.

Maxi pads are gently cushioned and slightly thicker. Ultra pads are thinner compared to the Maxi pads. Choosing whether to use Maxi pads or Ultra pads comes down to your personal preference.
Sparkle currently offers Maxi Pads in three absorbency levels:
Maxi Pads: Gently cushioned for your comfort
Regular:
For light flow days | 9.45 inches | 240mm
Super:
For moderate flow days | 11.02 inches | 280mm
Overnight:
For night-time use and heavy flow days | 12.60 inches | 320mm
If you don’t know which pad or which type of pad to choose for your flow, we recommend starting with a mix of both Regular and Super pads. If you have a flow that’s extremely heavy, you can opt for the Overnight pad!

Absorbent Core: FSC certified Elemental Chlorine Free (ECF) cellulose
Back Film: Plant-based bioplastic

While Sparkle pads and liners have not been designed specifically for incontinence, some of our customers have told us that they’ve used our products for light bladder leaks.
Most medical experts recommend that you change your pad every 4-6 hours, though you can change it more often depending on your period flow.
