This depends purely on your body, but it is recommended to change your incontinence pad every 4-6 hours or after any significant bladder leaks.
Sparkle Regular incontinence pads can hold around 3.7 ounces (110 ml) of urine and Sparkle Super incontinence pads can hold around 6 ounces (180 ml) of urine. The urinary bladder of an average adult can hold around 13.5 to 17 ounces (400-500 ml) of urine.
Most conventional incontinence pads can contain a large amount of petrochemical-based plastic and synthetic super absorbent polymers that are derived from crude oil. They also typically contain artificial fragrances and dyes that may cause rashes or irritations.
Sparkle incontinence pads are USDA Certified Biobased Products crafted with plant-based ingredients that are gentle to your skin and kind to the planet. They do not contain chlorine bleach, dyes or fragrances.
Many “green” pads use cellulose based fibers such as cotton or viscose only in the top layer. They continue to use conventional petrochemical-based plastics (such as polypropylene, polyethylene) as well as synthetic superabsorbents (such as sodium polyacrylate, which is a crude oil derivative) throughout all the other layers.
We have replaced conventional plastics from the top sheet, absorbent core, back film, wrapper and packaging with sustainable ingredients such as cellulose fibers as well as plant-based bioplastic. Sparkle incontinence pads do not use any synthetic super absorbent polymers. The absorbent core of our pad is made using a porous fiber network of natural and renewable cellulose fibers which can effectively absorb the urine.
Using renewable, plant-based pads can help us reduce non-renewable, fossil-fuel use. Compared to conventional pads that can contain up to 90% petrochemical-based plastics, Sparkle pads and packaging combined contain over 90% biobased materials.
By replacing conventional plastics from the top sheet, absorbent core, back film, wrapper and packaging with sustainable ingredients such as cellulose fibers and plant-based bioplastics, we can say goodbye to plastics that could pollute our planet for 500-600 years after disposal.
